A Taiwanese woman was arrested alive on suspicion of trying to defraud a Japanese old man of 1.8 kilograms of gold nuggets. The Japanese police suspected that she acted as a "driver" to pick up the goods in person.

"MBS" reported that this attempted fraud occurred on September 25. The person arrested by the current criminals was Lin Rongxuan, a 31-year-old woman from Taiwan who claimed to be engaged in the lending industry. Lin is suspected of conspiring with members of an illegal group to pick up gold nuggets valued at approximately 42.58 million yen (approximately NT$8.75 million) and weighing 1.8 kilograms from a male elderly man in his 80s in Nara City.

According to an investigation by the Japanese police, starting in June, the victim's home received frequent calls from men claiming to be police officers and prosecutors, claiming that "your account has been illegally opened. In order to avoid being arrested, please cooperate with the financial investigation." The victim followed instructions on the phone on September 9 and placed 3 kilograms of gold nuggets worth approximately 74.56 million yen (approximately NT$15.33 million) in front of the entrance of his home, which was taken away by members of the fraud group.

The fraud group continued to make requests, and the victim purchased additional gold nuggets. Fortunately, the gold jewelry sales store noticed something strange and took the initiative to report it to the police, and the entire case was exposed. The police asked the victim to cooperate and prepared fake gold nuggets worth about 42.58 million yen for "fishing". The suspect Lin showed up on September 25 to pick up the goods, but was ambushed and arrested on the spot by the police.
