Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and local governments sign an agreement to build 100 school complex facilities within 10 years

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, 25 education support offices, and 29 cities and counties announced at the 'Breaking the Wall' agreement ceremony held at Wondong Elementary School in Osan-si, Gyeonggi-do on the morning of the 9th that the Office of Education and local governments have joined hands to build 100 'school complex facilities' including swimming pools in Gyeonggi-do over the next 10 years.

According to the agreement, the provincial office of education, the Office of Education Support, and each local government will cooperate with each other in promoting the construction of a school complex facility.

The school complex is a facility built by the Office of Education providing school land and local governments providing budget support, and includes a swimming pool, library, and care center.

It is used as a classroom space for students during the day and as a sports and cultural space for local residents after school, making it a representative educational cooperation project between schools and regions.

Gyeonggi Province Superintendent of Education Ahn Min-seok said at the agreement ceremony that day, "We propose the 'Gyeonggi Golden Plan' movement to build 100 school complex facilities shared by students and residents, including swimming pools, libraries, care facilities, and sports facilities." He added, "One for every 100,000 population will be completed over 10 years."

In addition, the Office of Education and local governments are pursuing five common tasks, including ▲ spreading the phone-free culture ▲ revitalizing RAS (Reading·Arts·Sports) character education ▲ doubling the education budget and jointly realizing educational autonomy ▲ sharing school and local infrastructure and operating wall-breaking cooperation centers.

In addition, we will cooperate with each other by determining five regional issues, such as establishing public alternative schools and revitalizing village education communities.

Yongin City and Seongnam City, which attended the event but did not sign an agreement, plan to discuss future cooperation projects with the Provincial Office of Education.

Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae, Education Minister Choi Kyo-jin, and Gyeonggi Provincial Council Vice-Chairman Kim Mi-sook also attended the agreement ceremony and supported cooperation between the Office of Education and local governments.

In his congratulatory address, Governor Chu said, "Today's wall-breaking agreement is the first attempt in the history of educational administration. I want to help Superintendent Ahn Min-seok's appealing proposal penetrate the field, but the provincial financial crisis is holding me back. I think overcoming this as quickly as possible will provide an environment for wall-breaking practice."

Minister Choi said, "The Breaking the Wall Agreement is very meaningful in that it goes beyond a simple business agreement and is a groundbreaking practical promise that breaks down educational barriers and opens a new path for cooperation. I am confident that the bold challenge of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will establish itself as a model for cooperation. The Ministry of Education will not spare any support as needed."

After completing the event, attendees visited the swimming pool at the Wondong Elementary Sports Center (school complex facility), which was built as an educational cooperation project between the school and the local government, observed a survival swimming class, and looked at an acoustic guitar class, an educational support project of Osan City.
