Marat Safin will play at an exhibition tournament in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy.

The tournament will take place on October 3 in Mallorca and will feature eight tennis players, divided into the teams of Nadal and Andy Murray.

MOSCOW, September 27 - RIA Novosti. Former first racket of the world, Russian Marat Safin, will play at an exhibition tournament in honor of the 10th anniversary of the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy, the organizers of the competition report on Instagram*.

The tournament will take place on October 3 in Mallorca (Spain). Eight tennis players will take part in it, divided into teams of Nadal and Andy Murray. This will be Nadal's first appearance in front of fans since his professional career ended in November 2024.

The Russian, who retired in 2009, will play for Murray’s team. In addition to Safin, Austrian Dominic Thiem and Frenchman Richard Gasquet confirmed their participation. Other participants will be announced later.

Safin is 46 years old and is a winner of the US Open (2000) and Australian Open (2005). In total, he has 15 titles in Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) tournaments. Since the end of March 2025, Safin has been part of the coaching staff of Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev.
