The high-quality powder snow nurtured by the Changbai Mountains, coupled with the spatial layout of a cluster of ice venues and top-notch snowfields coexisting within a half-hour commute from the provincial capital, are very rare among global event venues.
Changchun City, as the main competition area, takes over all ice sports, and undertakes snow tasks such as cross-country skiing, ski orienteering, freestyle skiing and aerial skills, and mature ice venues are distributed in a contiguous area;
Jilin City, as a sub-region, is located in the world's golden latitude of ice and snow at 43 degrees north latitude. It has two world-class ski resorts, Beida Lake and Songhua Lake. The preparation period for the 2027 Changchun Winter Games is short and the compact schedule requires precise implementation of every task.
Jilin Province has chosen not to build new venues. All competition venues will be upgraded and renovated based on existing venues, and no isolated venues will be built or redundant construction will be carried out.
The Jilin Provincial Speed Skating Hall, Changchun Fifth Ring Stadium, and Changchun City Skating Hall are all mature venues that have hosted top events such as the Asian Winter Games and the National Winter Games. This time they only underwent "micro-plastic" renovation and upgrades. Snow venues such as Changchun Lotus Mountain Ski Resort, Jingyuetan Ski Resort, and Jilin City Beidahu Ski Resort also only carried out necessary reconstruction and expansion on the existing basis.

Recently, the 10 competition venues of the Changchun Winter Games have been fully completed. The Venue Construction Department coordinates all participating units and has successively organized acceptance inspections since September 28. As of September 30, all competition venues have completed project completion acceptance. Currently, the venue is undergoing joint debugging and testing of sports technology equipment to ensure stable operation during the game.
As a speed skating competition venue, the Jilin Provincial Speed Skating Hall is very representative. This renovation is based on the existing hardware foundation and relies on high and new technologies for all-round upgrades to promote the venue to be green and intelligent. The newly equipped ethylene glycol green refrigeration system is safe, non-toxic and recyclable, and can reduce overall energy consumption by 20 to 30%; hundreds of temperature sensors arranged under the ice surface collect temperature data in real time, automatically adjust the refrigeration power, and achieve millimeter-level ice surface flatness control. The venue also added a new mobile spectator stand to improve supporting functions and improve viewing services; the power system was simultaneously upgraded and expanded; in terms of safety, the venue updated the automatic fire control system.
Songhua Lake and Beidahu ski resorts in Jilin City are advancing the renovation of their tracks and supporting facilities in accordance with competition standards.
