South Chungcheong Province to conduct joint safety inspections until November to prevent fishing boat accidents in the fall season

South Chungcheong Province announced on the 9th that it will conduct joint safety inspections to prevent fishing boat accidents until November, as the fall fishing season becomes more active.

The inspection target is 150 fishing boats anchored in ports and ports in six coastal cities and counties on the west coast.

South Chungcheong Province prepared this inspection in consideration of the increase in fishing activity in the fall and the increased risk of accidents due to strong winds and high waves.

Major inspection items include whether life-saving and fire-fighting equipment, engine and electrical equipment, navigation and communication equipment are equipped, are in normal operation, and whether safety management measures are followed.

The joint inspection team includes South Chungcheong Province, cities and counties, the West Sea Fisheries Management Group, Daesan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, Korea Coast Guard, Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority, and the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives Fishing Vessel Safety and Operation Bureau.

At the site, compliance with safety rules is provided, while also promoting the wearing of life jackets on deck and the constant operation of fishing boat location transmitters.

An official from South Chungcheong Province said, “As the number of fishing boats operates during the fall season, safety inspections before departure are important,” and added, “We will do our best to protect the lives and property of fishermen.”
