"There is no shortcut to learning skills." Ma Bo, leader of the Chinese technical guidance expert group for the body repair project of the 48th World Skills Competition, told reporters on the 28th that Jiao Jiao's hands have been sharpened for six years. Ma Bo is Jiao Jiao's instructor.
In 2020, relying on the Shanghai-Guizhou vocational education counterpart support policy, 16-year-old Jiao Jiao came to Shanghai to study auto body repair. This major has extremely strict requirements for operational accuracy, technical specifications, and process logic. It is recognized in the industry as "fine work, endurance work, and ingenuity work." World Racing body repair project standards are strict and the process is complex. After being selected into the school's World Championship training echelon, Jiao Jiao started a high-intensity training mode. His wrists were repeatedly sore and strained, his fingertips were covered with grinding dust all year round, and his hands were thickly calloused, but he never slacked off. Under the guidance of the teacher, Jiao Jiao perfected the training methods, optimized the operating angle of the welding gun, and improved the marking and positioning skills. This not only solved the problems of uneven force and positioning deviation in vehicle body repair, but also greatly improved the work efficiency and the stability of the finished product. The repair error was stably controlled within 0.1 mm, far exceeding the 1 mm in the World Championship and the 0.5 mm standard in the school.
The 48th World Skills Competition was held in Shanghai this year. Ma Bo often told the players: "International competition only values standards, precision and results, so we must steadily master more extreme skills." The World Championship is never a one-person battle. Behind Jiao Jiao stands a "steel team" that works around the clock. The principal is in charge, and five special teams for base management, expert coaching, technical support, logistics services, and venue operation and maintenance have assigned positions and responsibilities. Full-time psychological teachers are on standby to provide meticulous logistics services. Ma Bo sighed: "What moved me even more was the 'chain' of teaching and learning in the school: the three-time world champion takes turns returning to his alma mater every week to teach welding gestures step by step."
"The last generation of players competed, the next generation served as sparring partners, and the next generation came back as coaches. Ma Bo said that two years ago, Jiao Jiao was the sparring partner of world champion Zhu Junfeng, and this time, he stepped onto the world stage.

The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission introduced on the 28th that there were 9 contestants in Shanghai representing China in the 48th World Skills Competition (World Championship), 7 of whom were from the Shanghai education system, accounting for nearly 80% of the total contestants in Shanghai. They competed on the same stage with skilled elites from all over the world, faced the challenge calmly and performed steadily, and finally won 5 gold medals and 2 silver medals.
In this World Championship, contestants from the Shanghai education system participated in seven projects including car body repair, smart security technology, website technology, 3D digital game art, health and social care, floral arrangements, and hotel reception. Among the 7 contestants, 2 are from secondary vocational schools, 2 are from higher vocational colleges, and 3 are from undergraduate universities.
