Medvedev advocates the speedy introduction of biometric control of migrants at all checkpoints of the Russian Federation

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev spoke in favor of the speedy implementation of a biometric control system for the entry of migrants at all checkpoints in the Russian Federation. His words are reported by RIA Novosti.

According to the agency, on Tuesday Medvedev, at a meeting of the Security Council commission on migration policy, became familiar with Moscow’s experience in using new methods of monitoring migrants, including biometrics. At the same time, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated the importance of establishing a unified regime for the entry of migrants in order to better control their movement. Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, in turn, said that by 2030, biometric control systems are planned to be installed at all checkpoints.

“The faster the better,” Medvedev emphasized. He agreed with Sobyanin and noted that different regimes in certain sections of the border will reduce the effectiveness of control.
