The Russian Investigative Committee proposes to prohibit children under 16 years of age from driving electric scooters.

The RF IC advocates banning the movement of electric scooters on sidewalks and pedestrian areas.

At a meeting in the Federation Council, approaches to the legal regulation of the use of personal mobility devices in urban agglomerations were discussed.

MOSCOW, September 30 - RIA Novosti. The Russian Investigative Committee proposes to prohibit children under 16 years of age from driving electric scooters, and also advocates banning their movement on sidewalks and pedestrian areas, said Dmitry Astashkin, senior inspector of the seventh department (analytical support of investigations) of the department for control over investigative bodies of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee.

“It seems relevant to introduce corresponding changes to the traffic rules in terms of defining the concepts of “driver” and “motor vehicles”, excluding the possibility of using SIMs by children under 16 years of age and prohibiting the movement of SIMs on sidewalks, pedestrian zones and pedestrian paths,” Astashkin said at a meeting in the Federation Council.

The topic of the meeting was approaches to legal regulation of the use of SIM in urban agglomerations.
