Witnessing his wife’s affair, her husband’s friend beat and detained Xiao Wang with a club and was sentenced

A man surnamed Cai, who works in the catering industry, discovered through a surveillance camera that his wife was taking Xiao Wang home for sex. He was suspected of teaming up with a friend surnamed Chen to beat her with a golf club and detained her and tortured her with handcuffs. Afterwards, he paid NT$400,000 and asked for a lighter sentence. However, the two were still sentenced to 12 months in prison by the Kaohsiung Branch of the High Court for obstruction of freedom and other crimes.

The judgment stated that the defendant Cai Nan and his wife were in the process of divorce due to emotional discord. At around 5 a.m. on October 27, 2024, Cai Nan discovered through the surveillance camera of her residence that she had brought her boyfriend A Guo (pseudonym) home to sleep, so he approached the restaurant chef surnamed Chen and went to her residence in Renwu District to investigate.

After Cai and others arrived, they found his wife and A Guo lying naked on the bed. They immediately became angry. He allegedly beat the two people on the head and other places with a golf club. Chen kicked and slapped A Guo, and even dragged him into the kitchen, used metal handcuffs, handcuffed him to the iron bar next to the refrigerator and abused him, causing scars all over the two people's bodies.

The Qiaotou District Court heard that both Cai and Chen confessed to the crime and were sentenced to one year in prison for each crime of obstructing freedom. The two appealed against the decision and demanded compensation of NT$400,000, demanding a lighter sentence. However, the Kaohsiung High Court rejected the decision and have not yet decided.
