Spot inspection of Mid-Autumn barbecue supplies: Tao City Economic Development Bureau randomly inspected 193 items, and 25 items were unqualified

The Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching, and people like to have barbecues together. The demand for various barbecue utensils on the market has increased significantly. In order to protect the safety and rights of the public, the Economic Development Bureau of the Taoyuan City Government sent personnel to inspect the barbecue supplies in hypermarkets, hardware department stores, and general stores in the city. Among the 193 items inspected, 25 were unqualified, of which 20 barbecue tongs accounted for the largest amount.

The Economic Development Bureau randomly inspected 193 products such as barbecue grills, barbecue grills, electric grill plates, barbecue tongs, charcoal, fire, and bamboo skewers. 25 products were unqualified, with a failure rate of about 13%. Most of the defects were that the "manufacturer and importer's name, address, phone number" or "product quantity" were not marked in accordance with the "Commodity Labeling Act". Some products were even "naked" without any label.

For illegal products, the Economic Development Bureau has asked relevant businesses to improve within a time limit. The Economic Development Bureau stated that if subsequent re-inspections still find that the products do not meet the standards, they will be fined more than 20,000 yuan and not more than 200,000 yuan according to law, and the sales channels will be ordered to remove the products from the shelves. People should pay more attention when purchasing barbecue supplies and avoid buying products from unknown sources to avoid poor quality products or no way to seek compensation.
