Two people were shot and one died in two shooting incidents in Kobe City. A 79-year-old unemployed man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The second incident occurred around 1:25 p.m. in a passenger car parked on the lot of a private house in 3-chome, Aratacho, Hyogo Ward, about 4.5 kilometers southwest.

Kametani was arrested on suspicion of firing a handgun at a man who was riding with him in the car, a resident of Kobe's Higashinada Ward, whose occupation is currently under investigation, in an attempt to kill him.

The man appears to have been shot in the right side and suffered serious injuries, but he is said to be conscious.

After 2 p.m., police officers who rushed to the scene after receiving a 110 call from a passerby questioned Kametani, who was on the street near the scene in Hyogo Ward, and made an emergency arrest after he admitted to being involved. A handgun was also seized. Prefectural police believe it was used in the incident.

The owners of private houses and cars were third parties. Prefectural police believe that the suspect Kametani and the man were acquainted and may have traveled to the scene in Hyogo Ward together for some reason, based on testimony from people involved, and are investigating the background and circumstances of both incidents.
