Adult arrested for assault with knife at the Ariosto high school in Ferrara

The alleged perpetrator of the knife attack that took place this morning in the bathrooms of the Ariosto high school in Ferrara, in which a fifteen-year-old was injured with a large blade, would be an adult, and not a fourteen-year-old as initially leaked. The Carabinieri of Ferrara - who intervened with the police at the school - in the afternoon in fact identified and arrested an unemployed adult from the area, believed to be responsible for the crimes of aggravated injuries and illegal possession of a bladed weapon. The victim injured himself while reacting, but managed to scare the attacker away. Questioned by the prosecutor, the adult was subjected to arrest at a health facility awaiting a validation hearing.

This morning the police at school had recovered and seized the weapon used in the attack and collected the first testimonies. Having carried out searches in the area, also thanks to the collaboration of the suspect's family members, the soldiers of the Ferrara Company identified and searched a boy from the province, finding him in possession of the sheath of the edged weapon - perfectly compatible with the knife found at school - and of the clothing worn at the time of the attack. The young man was then arrested almost in the act of committing a crime, questioned at the police station and then taken to the health facility.

The fifteen-year-old victim of the attack, who suffered only minor injuries, was taken to the emergency room at Sant'Anna di Cona (Ferrara) for medical checks and was immediately discharged.

The investigations by the Carabinieri coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Ferrara, which at the moment have made it possible to exclude any relationship of acquaintance between the victim and the suspect, continue to acquire further useful elements to fully clarify the contours and reasons of the affair. An event that created great shock in the city, especially in the school community of the Ariosto high school which had never recorded violent episodes of this type. The school has not released any statements but, with a provision from the head teacher Domenico Marcello Urbinati, has introduced more stringent procedures regarding the places where students enter the institute, also strengthening the supervision of school collaborators.
