Busan City Council passes resolution calling for the second relocation of public institutions to Busan to overcome the unipolar system in the metropolitan area

The Busan City Council's Planning and Finance Committee announced that it passed the 'Resolution calling for the second relocation of public institutions to Busan to overcome the unipolar system in the metropolitan area and realize a truly local era' proposed by Rep. Bae Gwan-gu (proportional representative) of the People's Power Party.

This resolution is scheduled to be officially adopted after passing a vote at the city council plenary session on the 11th.

The resolution said, "As a maritime capital, Busan is concentrated with regional specialized industries such as marine fisheries, logistics, shipping infrastructure, shipbuilding equipment, and secondary batteries. The Busan International Finance Center and the concentration of local financial institutions provide a foundation for maximizing synergy with public institutions," and urged, "The government should prioritize public institutions for relocation in consideration of Busan's strategic location and industrial connectivity."

In addition, they requested, “Busan City should prioritize attracting cutting-edge research and development (R&D)-type institutions linked to marine fisheries, shipbuilding equipment, and secondary batteries as its top priority, and the government and Busan City should immediately begin procedures to quickly implement the relocation of secondary public institutions to Busan.”
