The cram school teacher who sexually assaulted an underage female student was sentenced to 2 years in April

A tutor named Li from a cram school in Pingtung lured a 14-year-old female junior high school student into dating and took her to her residence to have sex with Motie nine times. He denied the crime in the first instance and was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. After appealing at the second instance, Li changed his plea to guilty and paid NT$1.35 million in settlement. The Kaohsiung Higher Education Branch recently revoked the original verdict and commuted the sentence to two years and four months in prison.

The verdict pointed out that from 2016 to 2018, a man named Li taught in a cram school in Pingtung and met Xiaoqi (pseudonym), a girl who was in the third grade of junior high school at the time. Li Nan actually used the friendship between teachers and students to engage in emotional blackmail and start a relationship. Since the graduation ceremony of Xiaoqi Junior High School in June 2017, Li Nan has taken her back to his residence in Kaohsiung many times, or had sex with her nine times in motels. He even visited her during her menstrual period at the Scout Jamboree, and even on the day of the high school entrance examination and recess ceremony for the first semester of high school.

Li refused to accept the appeal and appealed. During the trial at the Kaohsiung High Branch, Li Nan's attitude changed drastically. He not only changed his story in court and confessed to the crime, but also actively mediated with Xiao Qi and paid 1.35 million yuan in compensation.

The second-instance judge considered that Li Nan pleaded guilty late in the second trial, which had limited contribution to saving judicial resources, and that the secondary harm had been caused. Therefore, he only made a slight adjustment and reduced the original 9-crime sentence to 1 year and 2 months each to 1 year in prison. The combined execution sentence was reduced from 4 years and 6 months in the first trial to 2 years and April. However, he did not agree to suspend the sentence. The whole case can still be appealed.
