The Chinese sports delegation consists of 1,274 people, including 815 athletes (404 women, 411 men), and will participate in 38 major events and 369 minor events. The average age of the athletes is 24 years old. The oldest is shooter Wan Antao (41 years old) and the youngest is skateboarder Cao Shiqi (12 years old). "Post-2005" account for 27% of the total number of athletes. Among the participating athletes, there are 58 athletes from 17 ethnic minorities.

548 athletes participated in the Asian Games for the first time, and 306 athletes had participated in the Olympic Games or Asian Games. Thirty-six Olympic champions in 13 events including swimming, synchronized swimming, badminton, boxing, rhythmic gymnastics, trampoline, shooting, and volleyball will participate in the Asian Games. Zhang Xin, secretary-general of the Chinese Sports Delegation, said in an interview after the meeting that compared with the last Hangzhou Asian Games, the overall competitive pattern of Asian sports remains stable, with China still leading the way, followed by Japan and South Korea. There have been some changes in the event setting of the Asian Games, and as the host, the Japanese team has made rapid progress in various events in recent years and has certain advantages in terms of event setting, venue adaptation and schedule arrangement.
