On September 3, the State Council Information Office held a series of press conferences with the theme of "Getting Started with the 15th Five-Year Plan" to introduce the relevant situation of building a sports power during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period.
"Insist on running sports that are accessible to the people, so that sports can better nourish the happy life of the people." Gao Zhidan, director of the State Sports General Administration, said that by 2030, the per capita sports venue area will reach about 4 square meters, the proportion of people who regularly participate in physical exercise will reach about 40%, and efforts will be made to achieve the goal of the total scale of the sports industry exceeding 7 trillion yuan.
More than 5,000 venues and facilities will be built or renovated and expanded
In July this year, the "15th Five-Year Plan for Building a Sports Power" was officially released. This is the first national-level special plan with the theme of "Sports Power". In the same month, the State Council issued the "National Fitness Plan (2026-2030)", which is a guiding opinion for the future of national fitness in my country and a health roadmap written for the people.
Chen Xingnian, director of the Mass Sports Department of the State Sports General Administration, said that the new cycle of national fitness plan shows a clear direction of "more precise, broader, smarter, more integrated and more standardized". In response to the problem of "where to go for fitness", Chen Xingnian said that national fitness venues and facilities should be included in local land and space planning, and a mass sports space expansion plan should be implemented. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, more than 5,000 small (micro) sports parks, small fitness centers, multi-functional sports fields and other venues and facilities will be built or renovated and expanded. At the same time, we will effectively improve the subsidy policy for opening public sports venues to the public for free or low fees, and encourage innovative opening models.
Physical exercise is the most effective way to enhance the physical fitness of young people. Gao Zhidan said that we will further strengthen youth sports work, promote the physical and mental health promotion of young people and the cultivation of competitive sports reserve talents; organize the "three major sports" and track and field sports games for young people, so that young people who love sports and have athletic talents can stand out. Further deepen the integration of sports and education, and consolidate and expand the "three major ball" reserve talent training system that runs through "elementary school-junior high school-high school".
Give full play to the role of market mechanisms to promote high-quality development of competitive sports

"We will reform and improve the competitive sports management system and operating mechanism, continue to improve the comprehensive strength and international competitiveness of competitive sports, strive to maintain the number of world championships at the forefront of the world, and create outstanding results in world competitions such as the Los Angeles Olympics." Gao Zhidan said.
Since the beginning of this year, the State Sports General Administration has organized the "Year of Deepening Governance" in the sports field, focusing on 10 key areas and 31 key tasks. After a period of hard work, the development of the sports industry has become more dynamic and orderly. "We will continue to work hard to comprehensively build a sports governance system that is complete, scientific and standardized, and operates effectively. Promote the quality, expansion and upgrading of the sports industry
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the total scale and added value of my country's sports industry have maintained a rapid growth rate, sports consumption potential has continued to be released, retail sales of cultural, sports and leisure services have maintained double-digit growth, sports manufacturing innovation capabilities have been stimulated, transformation and upgrading have been accelerated, and there have been 294 national-level specialized and new "little giant" enterprises in the sports field.
The public's enthusiasm for participating in sports continues to rise, new technologies continue to iterate and upgrade, and the sports industry is facing rare development opportunities. Yang Xuejuan, director of the Sports Economics Department of the State Sports General Administration, said that the event will focus on "easy to handle and good-looking" and deepen the economic development of the event. Improve the efficiency of competition approval, reduce the threshold and cost of running competitions, and enhance the viewing experience of the competition itself and the public's sense of participation and experience. By expanding the supply of high-quality events, we will solve the problem of "difficulty getting a ticket" for ordinary people to watch the games.
