[Reporter Zheng Qifang/Reported from Taipei] The Ministry of Finance stated that since the US-China trade war, Taiwanese businessmen have returned to their hometowns to build production capacity, coupled with the rapid development of AI in recent years, driven by a surge in exports of "computers and ancillary units", accounting for 33.5% of total exports in the first eight months of this year, ranking first, surpassing "Integrated Products" "Circuits" accounted for 33.1% of the total exports, and the two together accounted for about 2/3 of the total exports; "Mobile phones and other communication equipment" replaced mobile phones and advanced to fourth place; "Petroleum refining products" is a minority among the top 10 traditional products. Due to changes in the product structure and intensified competition, both ranking and proportion have declined.
The Ministry of Finance explained that the structure of my country's export goods is increasingly concentrated. There are more than 1,200 items divided by HS (Uniform International Commodity Classification) 4-code commodities. The top 10 accounted for more than 50% in 2019, 60% in 2023, more than 70% in 2025, and more than 80% from January to August this year. Observing the changes in the ranking of export goods, exports of "computers and ancillary units" have surged in recent years. In the first eight months of 2026, they accounted for 33.5% of total exports, surpassing "Integrated Circuits" at 33.1% and ranking first. The two together accounted for about 2/3 of total exports; "Production of semiconductors" "Body and other machinery" benefited from the international competition to lay out the semiconductor industry chain, boosting the export momentum of related equipment and ranking among the 8th largest export commodities; "Mobile phones and other communication equipment" grew with the export of communication equipment and parts such as switches and routers, replacing mobile phones and advancing to the 4th place.

In terms of market, the top 10 exported goods from January to August this year were mainly sold to the United States, China, Hong Kong and ASEAN, and were mostly concentrated in a few markets. "Computers and ancillary units" cover servers, graphics cards and other products, and are closely related to the international division of labor in the non-red supply chain and the demand for data center construction. The export market is mainly the United States, accounting for more than 60%, and the ASEAN accounts for about 20%. "Integrated circuits" are mainly used for the assembly and processing of electronic products. Nearly half of them are exported to China and Hong Kong, followed by the ASEAN accounting for 25%.
In addition, "Computers and other parts and accessories" and "Mobile phones and other communication equipment" take the United States as the main market, accounting for about 40% and 60%; "Storage media" focuses on both the United States and China and Hong Kong markets, both accounting for more than 30%; "Flat display modules" and "Semiconductor devices and LEDs, etc." are highly concentrated in China and Hong Kong, accounting for 79.4% and 57.6% respectively; as for "Semiconductor production and other machinery" and "Printed circuits" market distribution is relatively scattered, mainly sold to ASEAN and China and Hong Kong.
