Daxing Materials breaks ground on new Qiaotou Branch plant to strengthen semiconductor supply chain resilience

Daxing Materials, a major domestic semiconductor specialty materials manufacturer, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the first phase of its semiconductor and key raw material R&D and production plant in Qiaotou Science Park today. The Kaohsiung City Government pointed out that Daxing's new plant will provide global semiconductors with R&D and innovation in important specialty chemical materials. It will also strengthen the supply chain resilience of the specialty materials required by Kaohsiung semiconductors and enhance global competitiveness.

Gao City Vice Mayor Luo Dasheng, Chairman of the National Science and Technology Commission Wu Chengwen, Director of the Southern Science Park Administration Zheng Xiurong and many industry dignitaries, together with Daxing Materials Chairman Lin Zhengyi, jointly broke ground for the first phase of the new Qiaotou plant today.

Lin Zhengyi mentioned in his speech that with the continuous development of advanced semiconductor processes and emerging applications, the demand for key chemical materials and technical thresholds have increased simultaneously, and the importance of independent research and development of materials has become increasingly important.

Since its establishment in 2006, Daxing Materials started with LCD materials. In 2015, it entered the semiconductor field and gradually expanded to advanced packaging, front-end processes and advanced processes. It continues to focus on in-depth R&D and technological innovation to promote the transformation and upgrading of Daxing Materials from 1.0 to 2.0.

The groundbreaking of the first phase of the Qiaotou factory is an important milestone for Daxing Materials in deepening its semiconductor material layout. In the future, it will combine its existing chemical material research and development advantages to deepen technology integration from materials, processes and equipment, and promote the development of Daxing Materials Company 3.0 through extreme refinement and parallel and vertical collaboration with domestic and overseas partners.

The new factory will also expand independent production and R&D capabilities, get closer to the southern semiconductor industry cluster and customer needs, deepen local investment, talent cultivation and industrial cooperation, and move towards becoming a globally influential semiconductor specialty chemical materials company.

Luo Dasheng, deputy mayor of Kaohsiung City, said that in the face of global supply chain reorganization and the rapid development of AI and high-performance computing, the semiconductor industry continues to evolve towards advanced processes and advanced packaging. Kaohsiung is also starting from the existing metal, machinery, petrochemical and material industry base, actively deploying semiconductors and AI, and gradually connecting IC design, wafer manufacturing, packaging and testing, equipment and materials in series, and industrial clusters continue to take shape.
