Guangdong Province’s home event to celebrate the 2026 Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival was held in Zhanjiang

China News Service, Zhanjiang, September 23 (Liang Sheng, Xie Jianfeng) On the 23rd, the main event of Guangdong Province to celebrate the 2026 Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival was held at the Harvest Coast of the Fifth Ring Plaza in Potou District, Zhanjiang City. Growers, breeders, new farmers, and purchasers gathered together to celebrate the harvest and talk about rural revitalization.

Farmers have become the absolute protagonists of the main event of this Harvest Festival. At the event site, intangible cultural heritage folk customs such as the Zhanjiang Dragon Dance, Leizhou Drum Changing, and Suixi Lion Dance were performed in turn, full of rich local flavor. Agricultural practitioners from all walks of life stood on stage C to share the fruits of the harvest. "Second generation fisherman" Liu Dongge introduced the golden pomfret breeding harvest; seed industry entrepreneur Liu Kangping promoted high-yielding rice varieties; brand founder Deng Xiuzhi told the story of the development of the local pig industry; and Li Xueyan, a new farmer from Qingyuan who won the national agricultural industry vocational skills competition, as well as representatives who have devoted themselves to village assistance and local entrepreneurship, all took the stage to tell their stories of struggling in the countryside and achieving a bumper harvest.

At Fengji Market, Xuwen pineapples, Zhanjiang oysters, Huazhou oranges, Meizhou golden pomelos, Yingde black tea and other "Cantonese brand" local specialties were all on display. Interactive experience projects such as oyster shell painting, fun hoops, and banana food tasting attracted many citizens and tourists to check in.

This event opened up online and offline sales, and many rural anchors started broadcasting on-site, using the "offline experience + online promotion" model to attract traffic to local specialties. The golden autumn consumption season of "CMG Farm Goods - Guangdong Tour" and "Canton Goods World·Southern Guangdong Celebrating Harvest" were launched simultaneously.

It is understood that after eight years, the celebration of the Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival has become an important window for Guangdong to empower rural industries. Various regions use the festival to polish the brand of agricultural products and transform the festival’s potential energy into industrial growth. Data show that in the first half of this year, the total output value of Guangdong's agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery reached 419.881 billion yuan, and the per capita disposable income of rural residents was 15,493 yuan. The rural living environment continued to improve, and the infrastructure continued to improve, laying a solid foundation for the in-depth advancement of the "Hundreds and Tens of Millions Project" and the construction of a strong agricultural province.
