2026 Xinjiang Silk Road Wine Festival opens in Changji, with more than a thousand local fine wines on display

China News Service, Xinjiang Changji, September 27th (Zhang Jiawei) On the 27th, the 2026 Xinjiang Silk Road Wine Festival with the theme of "Drunk Xinjiang with Grape Wine" opened in Changji City, Xinjiang. Guests from major domestic wine producing areas, industry associations, leading wineries, and scientific research institutions gathered together.

This wine festival will last until September 29, with an exhibition area of 12,500 square meters, 7 specially designed booths and 150 standard booths covering the entire chain of categories such as wine, cultural and creative packaging, and agricultural products. The four core wine production areas of Xinjiang, including the northern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains, the Yanqi Basin, the Ili Valley, and the Tuha Basin, as well as the Aksu Musalais specialty production area, made a collective appearance, and more than a thousand local fine wines were on display.

The event will be held simultaneously with the National College Student Grape and Wine Science and Culture Festival and the Changjizhou Food Culture and Tourism Festival.

Wang Qi, executive director of the China Wine Industry Association, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, saying that this wine festival has established a platform for display, exchange, and cooperation. He hopes that representatives of production areas and wine company colleagues will take this opportunity to fully communicate and learn from each other. He also hopes that all guests can taste the fine wines from various production areas in Xinjiang, feel the unique terroir charm at the foot of the Tianshan Mountains, and jointly explore the contemporary value of the Silk Road wine culture.

It is reported that Xinjiang’s wine grape planting area has stabilized at 200,000 acres, and its wine production capacity ranks first in the country. In recent years, Xinjiang has introduced a number of supportive policies to continue to strengthen the public brand of "Xinjiang wine". (over)
