The city government arranged the closing performance of the large-scale light and shadow art exhibition "Mirror of the City" at the Taoyuan Museum of Art. Taoyuan Mayor Zhang Shanzheng, Taitung County Mayor Rao Qingling and others attended. This exhibition combined sound and light technology to bring a wonderful conclusion to the Taiwan Design Exhibition.
Zhang Shanzheng said that the main building of the Taoyuan Museum of Art has been completed one after another. It is expected to complete the main structure and mechanical and electrical engineering by the end of this year, and carry out internal decoration in 2027, with the goal of officially opening in early 2028. The city government has now launched cooperation with the Center Pompidou in France, and hopes to enhance the development of contemporary art in Taoyuan through international exchanges in the future, making the Taoyuan Museum of Art an important platform to connect with the international community.
Zhang Shanzheng mentioned that this year, in conjunction with the Taiwan Design Exhibition, the city government allowed the Taomei Pavilion, which has not yet officially opened, to meet the public in advance through a large-scale outdoor light and shadow show. During the exhibition, various bureaus and offices of the city government integrated design thinking into the revitalization of old cities, agricultural innovation, and urban construction, demonstrating that design is not only an aesthetic presentation, but also an important gene that drives urban development. In the future, the city government will continue to connect major cultural projects and deepen Taoyuan's aesthetic development and urban cultural heritage.
Zhang Shanzheng thanked Taitung County Mayor Rao Qingling for leading the delegation to visit and witness the wonderful results of this design exhibition with citizens and friends. Rao Qingling said that when she visited the Taiwan Design Exhibition this time, she was deeply impressed by the overall exhibition design and smooth visiting circulation. Taoyuan was able to fully present the rich and diverse landscape, ecological and cultural features during the exhibition period, which was amazing. It also demonstrated the city’s achievements in integrating design resources and presenting local characteristics.
Cultural Director Qiu Zhengsheng said that the closing work "Mirror of the City" was curated and created by Hu Jinxiang, a new media artist born in Taoyuan. It uses water mist, laser, projection and interactive technology to transform Taoyuan's hydrological context, natural ecology and industrial characteristics into an immersive light and shadow work. It is presented in conjunction with the architectural mass of the Taoyuan Municipal Art Museum, leading the audience to experience the urban characteristics of Taoyuan from a new perspective, leaving a deep impression on this Taiwan Design Exhibition.
People including City Deputy Secretary-General Jin Zhiyu, Director of Tourism and Tourism Chen Jingfang, Taoyuan Museum of Art Director Lin Yongneng, Taitung County Government Land Affairs Director Shen Bishu and Taxation Director Li Suqin were all present.
