The 2026 Shenzhen National Unity and Progress Promotion Month and Guangming District theme activities kicked off

Fifty-six flowers bloom in all seasons; fifty-six streams gather together to form an ocean. Pomegranate seeds hug each other tightly, unity is strength; the Chinese family is a family, and the original intention will never be forgotten... The melodious song "The China family is a family" echoed in the Maozhou River Sports and Art Center in Guangming District. Accompanied by this theme song, the 2026 Shenzhen National Unity and Progress Publicity Month and Guangming District’s “Strengthening and Brightness” theme event kicked off.

Representatives of all ethnic groups from all walks of life in the city gathered here. Taking the publicity and popularization of the "Law of the People's Republic of China for the Promotion of Ethnic Unity and Progress" (hereinafter referred to as the "Ethnic Unity and Progress Promotion Law") as a link, the colorful ethnic cultures intertwined and stirred up. Pengcheng was full of practical enthusiasm for forging the consciousness of the Chinese nation's community.

Set up a stage in the market to popularize the law: the law comes alive in the fireworks world

In September, the Maozhou River Sports and Art Center was bustling with people, and the rule of law and national customs were intertwined. Three major areas, the National Unity and Progress Promotion Law Promotion and Experience Area, the National Intangible Cultural Heritage Market, and the Corporate Style Exhibition, were opened in sequence, and citizens who came to participate in the activities shuttled between them. The articles on the exhibition board are clear and readable, and the promotional leaflets are easily accessible; the intangible cultural heritage craftsmen sit in front of the stage, Dong embroidery threads are flying in and out, the pyrography iron is put into rhyme, and the Miao silver jewelry is shining.

Many citizens stopped to watch the skill demonstrations and experience traditional crafts. The legal provisions on paper jumped out of the document and became an on-site experience that could be viewed, touched and participated in. In the relaxed atmosphere of visiting the market and appreciating intangible cultural heritage, citizens can understand the concept of national unity in policies and regulations, which is like spring rain moistening things and reaching people's hearts.

According to the National Unity and Progress Promotion Law, the fourth week of September every year is established as the "National Unity and Progress Publicity Week" to anchor the legal node for national unity and progress publicity and education.

This year, Shenzhen launched the "1+3+N" publicity month series of activities, using the Guangming Main Venue activities as a clarion call for publicity and mobilization across the city. It simultaneously promoted three key actions: joint legal popularization among multiple departments, creating an atmosphere of national unity throughout the region, and jointly carrying out theme activities in urban areas. It encouraged each district to create unique branch venues based on regional characteristics.

Before the event officially kicked off, some representatives from various ethnic groups also visited the Shenzhen International Art Museum to experience the unique charm of the integration of China's excellent traditional culture and diverse civilizations in the art hall.

A series of implementation practices have quietly rewritten the face of ethnic work in Shenzhen: publicity and education have moved away from one-way indoctrination and popularization, and have turned to more warm and infiltrative transmission; the construction of grassroots positions is no longer satisfied with the tangible coverage of the physical level, and has advanced towards substantive and sustainable effective operation; the exchanges and integration of various ethnic groups have also gathered from temporary gatherings, gradually embedded in the fabric of daily life in the city, and continue to polish the "Durian·Deepness" Shenzhen ethnic work characteristic brand.

Multi-sector collaborative efforts: Building a solid foundation for national unity and the rule of law

The launching ceremony at the main venue began, and the signing of the multi-sector framework agreement became an important agenda item for the entire event. The United Front Work Department of the Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee (Ministry and Ethnic Affairs Bureau), together with the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Education Bureau, and the Municipal Justice Bureau jointly signed a framework agreement on the study, publicity and implementation of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Promotion of Ethnic Unity and Progress.

The agreement establishes five major directions: full coverage of hierarchical legal education, matrixing of position resources, specialization of event brands, integration of education, and normalization of long-term mechanisms. It clarifies the boundaries of responsibilities of each functional unit and builds a new pattern of national legal publicity and education under the unified leadership of the party committee, collaborative efforts of multiple departments, and extensive participation of the whole society.

With this agreement as an important support, the two key tasks of "promoting the popularization of the national common spoken and written language and building a strong sense of the Chinese nation's community" and the "Ethnic and Religious Policies and Regulations Study Month" are simultaneously included in the promotion of the publicity month, further consolidating institutional guarantees and expanding practical carriers for the city's ongoing ethnic law popularization work.

At the scene, the collection of essays on the theme of the Law on the Promotion of National Unity and Progress was held simultaneously, and a collection of texts with fireworks about life was given to the National Unity and Progress Associations in various districts.

This call for essays is open to all walks of life. Cadres, teachers, entrepreneurial practitioners, community social workers, young students, etc. have submitted pens to record the story of national unity that happened in Pengcheng.

Some talk about co-education on campus, some describe neighborhood watches in communities, some focus on national bonds in intangible cultural heritage, and some record warm moments of mutual help. After layers of screening, more than 60 excellent works were compiled into a volume.

Wei Tiangui, a Buyi compatriot from Zhenning, Guizhou, came to Shenzhen 26 years ago with a dream to work hard. He mentioned in the essay: "The rule of law is the anchor for progress, science and technology are the wind that breaks the waves of development, and the united force of all ethnic groups holding together like pomegranate seeds is the inexhaustible driving force for us to work together and pursue our dreams." Wei Tiangui's voice is also the common understanding of countless compatriots of all ethnic groups who have taken root in Shenzhen.

Yihui Pengcheng is in love with family and country: multiculturalism tells the story of brotherly love

The agenda of the ceremony was settled, and cultural and artistic performances were staged one after another. Programs that bring together the artistic styles of various ethnic groups are presented one after another, where cultures from different regions and different ethnic groups meet, using art as a medium to tell the feelings of family and country that are connected by blood among compatriots of all ethnic groups.

Students from the Mainland Xinjiang Secondary Vocational School of Shenzhen Second Vocational and Technical School performed the dance "There Is Such a Place". The graceful and graceful dance spread the vast border style and vividly demonstrated the fruits of national unity produced in the vocational education field. Young soprano Pan Zhiying sang "Mother is China" in a high-pitched and affectionate song, singing the feelings of home and country of fifty-six ethnic groups connected by blood. The Pomegranate Seeds Art Troupe of Hewan Community, Matian Street, Guangming District performed the group dance "Camellia Blooms", using body language to restore the daily life of neighbors of all ethnic groups helping each other and living in harmony. The solo dance "Linjiang Fairy" by Yang Xiaolin, a member of the Guangming District National Unity and Progress Association, integrates the artistic conception of classical poetry with ethnic dance, giving the audience a unique aesthetic experience.

When the sonorous melody of the chorus "Love Me China" resounded throughout the audience, the atmosphere of the entire event reached a climax, and the audience applauded one after another. Compatriots of all ethnic groups are immersed in the appeal of art and truly understand the concept of community that shares weal and woe, honor and disgrace, life and death, and destiny. When the performance came to an end, the guests took photos side by side with all the cast and crew. Their smiling faces captured the precious moment of "seeds and seeds are of one heart".
