The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance deploy and implement the 2026 Silver Age Lecture Plan

According to the website of the Ministry of Education, recently, the General Office of the Ministry of Education and the General Office of the Ministry of Finance jointly issued the "Notice on Implementing the 2026 Silver Age Lecture Plan" (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice") to deploy the Silver Age Lecture Plan.

The "Notice" clarifies that the 2026 silver-age lecture plan will be mainly implemented for poverty-stricken counties, underdeveloped ethnic counties, old revolutionary base counties, border counties, and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps regiments, with a focus on the national rural revitalization key counties. It plans to recruit 6,000 silver-age lecture teachers in the compulsory education stage. On this basis, all provinces are encouraged to independently select outstanding retired teachers to give lectures in other counties and townships with weak educational development based on actual conditions, and to include ordinary high schools within the scope of independent implementation as needed.

The "Notice" emphasizes that retired teachers who apply for the Silver Lecture Program are mainly principals, teaching researchers, special teachers, and key teachers. They are required to be politically reliable, have noble teacher ethics, have deep feelings for education, be dedicated to their work, be good at work, be healthy, be dedicated, have a solid style, and have rich experience in education and teaching. In principle, they should have intermediate or above teacher titles, mainly senior teachers. The work of rehiring retired teachers from the original unit will not be included in the Silver Age Lecture Plan.

The "Notice" requires that the remuneration of lecture teachers be ensured. During the service period, the personnel relations and current retirement benefits of lecture teachers will remain unchanged. Work funds will be distributed on a monthly basis, which are mainly used to provide work subsidies, transportation and travel expenses, and purchase of accident insurance premiums to lecture teachers. The funds for teaching teachers in the compulsory education stage are shared by the central finance and local finance based on the annual per capita standard of 20,000 yuan.

The "Notice" requires that all localities should start the open recruitment of lecture teachers as soon as possible based on actual conditions, coordinate the situation of different regions, give priority to the national rural revitalization key counties and other educationally underdeveloped areas, as well as the needs of regions, school sections, schools, and disciplines with periodic shortages of teachers. Recruitment information should be announced through multiple channels to attract qualified retired teachers to actively participate. Deeply explore the advanced models and touching deeds of lecture teachers, guide more qualified outstanding retired teachers to pay attention to and participate in the plan, and contribute to improving the quality of education in underdeveloped areas and promoting the balanced development of education.
