Viewer Media Foundation holds the 2026 Viewer Media Awards Broadcast Video Contest

The Korea Communications Commission and the Viewers Media Foundation announced on the 3rd that they will start the '2026 Viewers Media Awards Broadcast Video Contest' to recruit broadcast video works produced by citizens starting on the 6th.

The contest, which marks its 12th anniversary this year, is open to anyone in the public, and applications will be accepted until September 7.

The contest is divided into the 'Best Works Award', which selects creative broadcast video works, and the 'Special Award', which rewards individuals and groups that have contributed to revitalizing viewer participation in broadcasting.

The Best Picture Award consists of three categories: new video, video broadcast from viewer participation programs, and audio work. There are no genre restrictions, including drama, documentary, animation, and interview.

In particular, starting this year, works using generative artificial intelligence (AI) can also be submitted to reflect changes in the media production environment. Works utilizing AI must be submitted along with related technical documentation.

Awards will be given at the end of November for a total of 16 works, including 14 Best Pictures and 2 Special Awards.

The Korea-U.S. Unification Committee said, "We hope that creative content produced by viewers will be widely discovered and shared," and added, "We will continue to provide support to revitalize viewers' content production capabilities and participation in broadcasting."
