The 2026 Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival Tibet home event opens in Gar County, Ngari Prefecture

China News Service, Lhasa, September 24 (Reporter Gongsang Lhamo) On September 23, the Tibetan home event of the 2026 Chinese Farmers Harvest Festival opened in Jiamu Village, Gar County, Ngari Prefecture. With the theme of "Snowy Harvest Paints a New Volume, Revitalizing Zhangxiong and Starts a New Journey", this event is based on the characteristics of the high-altitude pastoral area of ​​Ngari and the cultural heritage of Zhangxiong. With farmers and herdsmen as the main body, it will focus on displaying the achievements of agriculture and animal husbandry development and rural revitalization of the Tibetan Plateau through a series of activities such as achievement display, agricultural technology promotion, production and marketing docking, and convenient services.

Ngari area is located in western Tibet, with an average altitude of more than 4,500 meters. It is the core birthplace of Zhangzhong culture. For a long time, the local area has relied on alpine pasture resources to steadily develop specialty industries such as highland barley planting, yak and Tibetan sheep breeding, and plateau agricultural and animal husbandry product processing, and continues to promote the modernization and upgrading of agriculture and animal husbandry. This home event held in Ali is a concentrated display of the harvest results of high-altitude pastoral areas. It is also an important measure to empower the development of border villages through festivals and inherit the farming and pastoral culture of snowy areas.

The opening ceremony centered on mass performances and physical display. Local farmers and herdsmen dressed in distinctive costumes gathered at the scene. Combined with the display of agricultural products and folk cultural performances, it created a strong atmosphere of joy and harvest for all.

Several special function exhibition areas were set up at the event site. The agricultural and animal husbandry achievements exhibition area visually displays the achievements of Tibetan highland barley stabilization, breeding of improved yak and Tibetan sheep varieties, artificial forage planting and other characteristic industrial achievements, reflecting the results of the green, technological and brand-oriented development of plateau agriculture and animal husbandry.

In response to high-altitude production needs, the agricultural machinery exhibition area displays special agricultural and animal husbandry machinery for plateau farming, pasture harvesting, and forage processing. Technicians provide on-site practical demonstrations and Q&A teaching to popularize advanced production technologies to farmers and herdsmen, helping to improve the mechanization level of plateau agriculture and animal husbandry.

We simultaneously implemented on-site service measures to benefit the people, carried out free clinics, health science popularization, legal education and policy promotion to benefit farmers, and accurately served the people around key contents such as rural revitalization, grassland protection, and production safety, and delivered convenience welfare to the grassroots.

On the same day, the Ali Prefecture Stadium launched a harvest event, bringing together more than 50 agricultural and animal husbandry enterprises and professional cooperatives in Tibet to display and sell hundreds of plateau specialty products. The event adopts the "offline exhibition and sales + online live broadcast" model to expand the sales channels of agricultural products. Yak meat, dairy products, highland barley products and other specialty products are selling well, and on-site purchases and sales are booming. The exclusive Ali food tasting area allows the public to immerse themselves in the fireworks of the plateau harvest.

This harvest festival has built a comprehensive platform for displaying agricultural and animal husbandry achievements, technical exchanges, and docking of production and marketing. It has effectively transformed the harvest results of the plateau into actual income increases for farmers and herdsmen, vividly demonstrated the new modernization of Tibetan agriculture and animal husbandry in the new era, and injected fresh energy into the comprehensive revitalization of border villages.
