Measurement, Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) President Prof. Dr. Bayram Ali Ersoy announced that the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Examination (2026-YKS) placement results were announced at "ykssonuc.osym.gov.tr".
Ersoy used the following statements in his post on his NSosyal account:
"Dear candidates, the YKS selection process has been completed, congratulations. I congratulate our candidates who have been placed in the higher education program and wish you a productive education process. The additional selection process will be a new opportunity for our candidates who could not be placed in any program. Candidates will be able to access their placement results from ÖSYM's 'ykssonuc.osym.gov.tr' address.
Registration can be made between 24-28 August 2026, and electronic registration can be made between 24-26 August 2026. "I congratulate our candidates who left the exam preparation process behind with their devoted work, our teachers who contributed to our candidates, and our families who lived the exam process together with the candidates by making great sacrifices."
ELECTRONIC REGISTRATIONS CAN BE MADE ON 24-26 AUGUST
According to the announcement made on ÖSYM's website, the central placement procedures for 2026-YKS higher education programs have been completed, in line with the results of the exam and the preferences received from the candidates.
Candidates can submit their placement results to T.R. via ÖSYM's "ykssonuc.osym.gov.tr" address. will be able to access with their ID numbers and candidate passwords. Placement Result Document will not be printed and sent to the candidates' addresses.
According to the news in AA; Registration of candidates who are entitled to enroll in a program according to the 2026-YKS results can be made on 24-28 August, and electronic registrations can be made on 24-26 August.
For registration, candidates will need to apply to the university affiliated with the higher education program they are placed in within the specified period.
Candidates who register electronically will process according to the documents and date announced by their universities.
YÖK: OCCUPANCY RATE IN STATE UNIVERSITIES REACHED 99.52 PERCENT
According to the statement made by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK); Placements were made in 479 thousand 392 of the total 481 thousand 684 quotas in the formal programs of state universities. Only 2 thousand 292 quotas remained vacant. The number of vacant quotas, which was 5 thousand 503 last year, decreased by 58.3 percent. The occupancy rate of undergraduate programs in the state was 99.15 percent, the occupancy rate of associate degree programs was 99.98 percent, and the total occupancy rate was 99.52 percent.
Only 37 quotas remained vacant in associate degree programs. The record occupancy in associate degree programs revealed the strong interest of young people in vocational and technical higher education. All quotas for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and law programs, which have success thresholds, on the domestic campuses of state universities have been filled. While the occupancy rate in engineering programs exceeded 98 percent, there are no vacancies in the general quotas of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, business and economics programs at state universities. The occupancy rate of general quotas in foundation higher education institutions was 79.7 percent.
THERE ARE NO VACANCIES LEFT IN FUTURE TECHNOLOGIES
The programs opened by the Council of Higher Education for the professions of the future, especially artificial intelligence, data science, cyber security and digital transformation, attracted great attention from students. The quotas of Business Administration and Artificial Intelligence, Paramedic, Livestock Technologies and Management, Pharmaceutical Production Technology, Laboratory Animals, Mobile Security Technologies, Explosive and Energetic Materials Technician and Fisheries Technology programs, which were opened for the first time this year, have been filled. Artificial intelligence-based undergraduate and associate degree programs also reached 100 percent occupancy. Not a single quota remained vacant in the Artificial Intelligence Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Supported Coding and Artificial Intelligence Operator programs. In a significant part of the teaching programs at state universities, all quotas have been filled. German, Geography, French, Japanese, Mathematics, Preschool, Special Education, Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Classroom, Social Studies, History, Turkish Language and Literature and Turkish teaching programs have reached 100 percent occupancy. In addition, placements were made in all 89 thousand 396 quotas allocated for open education programs at state universities.
ÖZVAR: OUR QUOTA POLICY HAS POSITIVELY REFLECTED ON THE PLACEMENT RESULTS
Evaluating the 2026-YKS placement results, YÖK President Erol Özvar said, "Under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we have made a great transformation that not only increases access to higher education but also improves its quality and prepares our young people for the future of Turkey. The results showed that the quota policy implemented by considering the supply-demand balance was successful. We rearranged the quotas of some programs, especially law, pharmacy, dentistry, psychology and teaching. What we implemented "We are very pleased with the positive impact of the quota policy on the placement results. The occupancy rate in our state universities has reached a historical level, there are almost no vacant quotas left. The 100 percent occupancy rate in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and law programs with success threshold clearly shows the success of this policy."
