Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027: Three Macau universities on the list

China News Service, Macau, September 30 (Reporter Zheng Jiawei) The British Times Higher Education (THE) announced the 2027 World University Rankings on the 30th. The University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology and Macau City University were included in the list, and the first two universities entered the world's top 300.

Among them, the University of Macau is tied for 154th, the highest-ranking institution in Macau; Macau University of Science and Technology is tied for 269th; City University of Macau, which entered the list for the first time last year, has risen from the 601-800 range to the 451-500 range this year.

Sheng Jian, Director of the Scientific Research Office of City University of Macau (hereinafter referred to as "City University"), said in an interview with a reporter from China News Service that City University of Macau's progress is due to the release of the effectiveness of talent echelon construction. In recent years, the school has recruited a group of highly cited Elsevier scholars with multidisciplinary backgrounds, "Yangtze River Scholars", and scholars selected into Stanford University's "Top 2% of Global Scientists List" through full-time recruitment and flexible recruitment methods. At present, Macao’s teaching staff team comes from nearly 20 countries and regions, and its level of internationalization has increased significantly.

"In the future, City University of Macau will continue to use first-class teachers to promote the establishment of world-class disciplines, enable the university's comprehensive ranking to reach a higher level, and contribute Macao's strength to enhance the international influence of China's higher education." Sheng Jian said.
