Paid express train connecting Narita and Haneda airports to start operating in the 2030s

A paid express train that directly connects Narita Airport and Haneda Airport will begin operating in the 2030s.

The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism compiled the policy at a review meeting on the 6th. There is already a direct express train, but this will be the first time for a paid express train.

With the construction of a new runway, Narita Airport is expected to be able to handle up to 500,000 departures and landings a year and handle 75 million passengers. Countermeasures have been discussed as congestion is predicted to become more serious.

Regarding paid limited express trains, Keisei Electric Railway plans to introduce a new type of paid limited express service between Oshiage and Narita Airport in fiscal 2028. It is envisaged that this limited express will be connected to the Toei Subway Asakusa Line and Keikyu Corporation and run directly to Haneda Airport. The aim is to begin operation in the 1930s, when Shinagawa Station is undergoing improvement work and the Haneda Airport Station lift line is in place.

The government has set a goal of increasing the number of visitors to Japan to 60 million by 2030, and is working to improve convenience to Haneda Airport and ease congestion.
