Yamaguchi-gumi and Kizuna-kai's designation as ``specified organized crime gangs'' to be lifted on the 21st

The Yamaguchi-gumi (Nada Ward, Kobe City) and Kizuna-kai (Neyagawa City, Osaka Prefecture), whose activities have been designated as ``specified organized crime organized crime groups'' whose activities are severely restricted due to the risk of serious harm to citizens due to conflict, are expected to have their conflict designation lifted from the 21st.

The designation of conflict between the two groups has been extended every three months since June 2024 based on the Organized Crime Countermeasures Act, but the Hyogo Prefectural Public Safety Commission and other organizations decided on the 3rd not to extend the designation until the next deadline (the 20th) unless a new conflict occurs.

The Hyogo Prefectural Police and other authorities announced this on the 3rd.

This is the second case in which the designation for conflict following the split of Yamaguchi-gumi in August 2015 has been lifted, following the designation with Ikeda-gumi (Kita Ward, Okayama City).

The designation of the remaining Kobe Yamaguchi-gumi (Inami Town, Hyogo Prefecture) expires on October 6, but police authorities are expected to carefully decide whether to extend it.

As of the end of 2015, the Yamaguchi-gumi had approximately 3,100 members and the Kizuna-kai had approximately 50 members. In interviews with the prefectural Public Safety Commission and other parties, the Yamaguchi-gumi stated that the conflict with the three rival organizations, including the Kizunai, had ended, and that the Kizunai had no intention of causing a conflict. There have been no incidents of conflict between the two groups since April 2023.

Once the conflict designation is lifted, activities such as going in and out of offices and gathering in groups of five or more people will no longer be prohibited in municipalities that have been designated as warning zones.
