Malovechkina joined the Legion “Freedom of Russia”* and, on instructions from her curator, committed sabotage using an improvised explosive device.

Malovechkina admitted guilt in court and was also fined 350 thousand rubles and received a restriction of freedom for 2 years.

VLADIVOSTOK, September 29 - RIA Novosti. A resident of the Trans-Baikal Territory who joined the “Legion “Freedom of Russia”* and caused an explosion of a railway track with a carriage was sentenced to 24 years, reports the 2nd Eastern District Military Court.

The court found that in 2025 Ekaterina Malovechkina joined the Ukrainian paramilitary association Legion "Freedom of Russia" *, on the instructions of the curator, posted anti-government leaflets in Krasnokamensk, Trans-Baikal Territory, and then agreed to undergo training to commit sabotage using an improvised explosive device (IED).

Malovechkina legalized the cryptocurrency received from the curator, then bought the necessary components at retail outlets to create an IED. With its help, she manufactured at least two IEDs weighing about 5 kilograms of TNT.

“On the twenty-fourth of August 2025, Malovechkina arrived at the previously agreed upon location of the explosion and planted an IED in a hole she dug between the sleepers of the railway track of the Trans-Baikal Railway, brought the IED into readiness and carried out the explosion of the railway track, which led to the destruction of two reinforced concrete sleepers and damage to the railway car located above the place explosion," the statement said.

“The Second Eastern District Military Court... imposed... a final sentence of imprisonment for a term of 24 years, to be served in a general regime correctional colony,” the statement said.

She was found guilty under seven articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, including treason and sabotage, and admitted her guilt in court. She was also sentenced to fines of 350 thousand rubles and restriction of freedom for 2 years.
