The 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum opens with Dong Jun’s keynote speech advocating global security governance

China News Service, Beijing, September 16 (Li Chun, Liu Mengqing) The 13th Beijing Xiangshan Forum opened on the 16th at the Beijing International Convention Center. Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech.

Dong Jun said that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Xiangshan Forum. At present, the century-old changes in the world are accelerating and international security is at a fragile moment. The concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and the four major global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping have increasingly demonstrated the value of the times in leading the course of history. We should adhere to the new security concept to build consensus, maintain stability with multilateralism, guard against risks with historical clarity, solve problems through dialogue and consultation, lay a solid foundation for common development, deepen cooperation with action, and promote the realization of lasting peace and universal security in the world.

Dong Jun said that the key to global security governance lies in action and ultimately depends on results. The Chinese military is willing to work hand in hand with the militaries of other countries to jointly implement global security initiatives, continue to build security mutual trust, enhance international coordination for common security, enhance joint security capabilities, strengthen security governance in emerging areas, increase the supply of public security products, and make greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The theme of this forum is "Building Stable Consensus and Promoting Security Governance Together". About 2,000 guests including official representatives, experts, scholars and observers from more than 100 countries, regions and international organizations attended. (over)
