Promoting the introduction of 27 smart city services, including transportation and safety

(Namyangju = Yonhap News) Reporter Kim Do-yoon = Namyangju City, Gyeonggi-do, announced on the 22nd that it will pursue a plan to introduce lifestyle-friendly smart city services in Wangsuk 1 and 2 districts and Jinjeop 2 districts.

We are considering applying 27 smart city services in the fields of transportation, safety, environment, and welfare from the new city creation stage.

In the transportation field, we plan to apply smart intersections, bus information systems, priority signals for emergency vehicles, integrated pedestrian safety systems for the transportation vulnerable, school zones for pedestrian safety for children, provision of public transportation transfer information, and demand-responsive transportation.

The safety and disaster fields include a flood surveillance and monitoring system, closed-circuit (CC) TV for crime prevention, and safety emergency bells, while the life and environment fields include smart libraries, public Wi-Fi, fine dust traffic lights, electric assistive device charging services, and food waste management systems.

Namyangju City is also building an integrated operation center to efficiently link and manage these services.

Separately, Namyangju City is reviewing the optimal rainwater storage tank operation system, disaster safety platform, artificial intelligence (AI) snow removal system, and emergency safety and relief services for senior citizens living alone, etc. to be applied in connection with new city infrastructure.

Mayor Choi Hyun-deok said, "A smart city should not only introduce new technologies, but also allow citizens to experience convenience and safety in their daily lives. Services that have been confirmed to be effective will be expanded throughout the city."
