Iranian President Perzeskian: Funds in China are blocked and cannot be used for military operations

In an exclusive interview with Fox News on the 25th, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian responded to the question "whether Beijing is paying for this war" by saying, "Our funds in China are blocked."

When asked whether China, as the largest buyer of Iranian crude oil, would pay for Iran's military operations, Perzeskian said that the funds Tehran placed in China were difficult to obtain. He said that Iran does not have free access to the funds earned from supplying China, so it is not accurate to allege that Tehran uses related funds to pay for military operations in other regions.

He said, "One of the problems we face is that our funds in China are blocked. We can't even take our money out of the country where we supply goods, let alone use these funds to pay people in other corners of the world."

In addition, South Korea's Seoul Economic Daily quoted Japanese media reports on the 26th that China has informed Iran that it will not comply with the economic sanctions imposed by the Trump administration on Tehran.

The report said that a senior Iranian official told Kyodo News Agency that Tehran was informed that Beijing would not comply with Washington’s decision to impose sanctions on Iran. The official said that China had already expressed this position during talks with Iran earlier this month, and after the summit between U.S. President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 24th, Beijing’s position has not changed. He added, “The U.S. policy of putting pressure on Iran has failed.”
