Tusk refuses to change his position on Nord Stream after the arrest of a suspect

In an interview reported by TVP World, Tusk confirmed that he had not changed his position on the issue, noting that Poland was opposed to the “Nord Stream 2” project.

He added: "I will not change my opinion on this issue, and I believe that those who built the pipeline should be ashamed, not those who took it out of service."

On Wednesday, the German Public Prosecution Office announced the arrest of a Ukrainian citizen in Croatia on suspicion of his connection to the attacks on the Nord Stream lines.

Polish lawyer Timotiusz Pabrotsky confirmed that the detainee is Vladimir Zhuravlev, who was previously arrested and then released by the authorities in Poland.

Explosions occurred in two Russian gas pipelines to export gas to Europe, “Nord Stream-1” and “Nord Stream-2”, on September 26, 2022, and Germany, Denmark, and Sweden did not rule out that the explosions were caused by deliberate sabotage.

Nord Stream AG, which operates the Nord Stream, indicated that the damage to the two pipelines is unprecedented, and that it is not possible to estimate the time required to repair them.

The Russian Public Prosecution had opened a case regarding an act of international terrorism, and Russian President’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Russia had repeatedly requested data regarding the explosions that targeted the “Nord Stream” lines, but it had not received it on any occasion.
