A young elementary school teacher who organized a “fight club” in his class was sentenced to two years in prison in the United States. The Daily Mail writes about this.

25-year-old Julius Jonican from Indianapolis, Indiana was behind bars. The investigation found that for three months in 2023, he incited junior high school students to beat each other and filmed it. Jonikan accidentally showed a recording of one of the beatings to his parents on November 1, 2023. The teacher wanted to play a video about classroom safety, but instead the parents saw one seven-year-old boy beating another. Jonikan could be heard off-camera encouraging the aggressive child. In this case, the victim is disabled.

The teacher was immediately suspended from work, and four days later he resigned. In April 2024, the parents of the injured boy filed a lawsuit. Jonikan was arrested. A year later, the school district agreed to pay the disabled boy's family $1.2 million (almost 102 million rubles) in a civil lawsuit. In August of this year, Jonikan pleaded guilty. On September 24 he was sentenced to two years in prison.

The family of the disabled boy expressed satisfaction with the verdict, but other parents whose children were also beaten called it too lenient. The prosecutor's office was also dissatisfied with the court's decision.
