A horrific car accident occurred in Zhunan Town, Miaoli County at around 7 a.m. yesterday (25th) morning! A man surnamed Liu, about 50 years old, was driving a Lexus SUV at the intersection of Hexing Road and Zhengjue Road in Zhunan Town. He was suspected of drunk driving and ran a red light and went straight. He collided with a Nissan SUV that was going straight on a green light. The powerful impact also affected a Volkswagen hatchback that was stopped at a red light, causing a three-vehicle collision. The police arrived at the scene to conduct alcohol tests on the three drivers and found that Mr. Liu's alcohol level was as high as 0.74mg/L.

Preliminary investigation by the police revealed that Liu was driving a Lexus SUV from west to east along He Hing Road when the incident occurred. He ran a red light at the intersection and hit a man surnamed Lai (31 years old, driving a Nissan SUV) who was traveling south to north along Zhengjue Road. After the collision, the vehicle lost control and then hit a man surnamed Wei (60 years old, driving a Volkswagen hatchback) who was driving a Volkswagen hatchback from east to west on He Hing Road and was waiting for a red light, causing damage to three vehicles.

After receiving the report, the Datong Police Station of the Zhunan Police Branch immediately sent officers to the scene to deal with the incident and conducted alcohol concentration tests on the three drivers. The results showed that both Lai Nan and Wei Nan's alcohol test values ​​were 0mg/L, but only Liu Nan's alcohol test value was as high as 0.74mg/L. The detailed cause of the accident and the attribution of relevant responsibilities are still pending further investigation by the police.
