Lecce beats Monza 3-2 in the Italian League, Valencia terminates the contract of its coach Corberan, and Hamburg loses to Leipzig 0-5.

Lecce defeated its guest, Monza, 3-2, on Sunday, in the fourth round of the Italian Football League.

Lecce raised its score to six points in tenth place, achieving its second victory in the competition, after it had defeated rookie Venezia in the first round with two unanswered goals, then lost to Roma and Cagliari.

On the other hand, Monza's score stagnated at only one point, which it obtained from its draw with Parma, while it lost two matches against Inter Milan and Udinese.

Lecce took the lead in the third minute through Lassana Coulibaly, and Thiago Gabriel added the second goal in the 11th minute.

In the 20th minute, Ricardo Mangas scored the goal to reduce the difference for Monza, but Lecce returned to scoring again after only one minute through Lassana Coulibaly, who scored his second and third goal for his team in the match.

Monza scored the second goal in the 89th minute through Ezequiel Zeballos.

Valencia has terminated the contract of its coach Carlos Corberan, who has been in office since December 2024, due to poor results, as announced by the bottom of the Spanish Football League, La Liga, on Sunday.

The club explained in a statement that it had terminated the contracts of its British coach and CEO, Ron Gourlay, two days after suffering its fourth consecutive defeat in five matches against its guest, Sevilla (1-0).

Corberan, who took over the job in late 2024, is the first coach to be dismissed this season in the Spanish League.

He succeeded in keeping Valencia among the first division clubs during the past two seasons, despite the difficult financial circumstances.

Oscar Sanchez, coach of the reserve team, will take over temporarily until a new coach is appointed.

Valencia fans have been demanding for several months the departure of the club's Singaporean owner, Peter Lim, and his son Kiat, knowing that the latter has been president of the club since March 2025.

Hamburg continued its disastrous start in the German Football League by suffering a third loss in a row, with a major loss to its host Leipzig 0-5 on Sunday in the third stage.

Leipzig's goals were scored by Frenchman Tidiam Gomez (17), Norwegian Antonio Nosa (28), Hungarian Willy Orban (72), and the other French substitutes Christopher Nkunku (74) and Brazilian Romulo Cardoso (77).

Hamburg, the German champion six times and the European champion once (1982-1983), is suffering from a disastrous start to the season, falling for the third match in a row, after the first opening against Borussia Dortmund (0-2) and the second against Mainz with a clean score of five as well.

Hamburg also suffered a fifth loss in a row against Leipzig, the seventh in nine matches that brought them together historically, compared to a draw and a win, in all competitions.

On the other hand, Leipzig recovered after two consecutive losses. The first is against Werder Bremen in the local league (1 - 3), and against the Italian Como in the first round of the unified group stage in the Champions League competition (1 - 4).

The stage will conclude later with a summit confrontation between Elversberg, the surprise of the season, which achieved two consecutive victories in the first two stages, and its guest, defending champion Bayern Munich.
