Earthquake near Granada, Spain, 3 people slightly injured... Some areas of the Alhambra Palace are closed

A 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred near Granada, Andalusia, southern Spain, at 10:38 a.m. on the 18th (local time), injuring three people, AFP and Reuters reported. According to Spain's National Institute of Geology, an earthquake occurred in Alhendin, 10 km south of Granada, and three earthquakes occurred in the area this morning. Rescue authorities in Andalusia's metropolitan autonomous region said three people suffered minor injuries and there were more than 500 reports of cracks or falling debris in buildings. Shocked residents and tourists evacuated the building. Images posted on social media showed debris falling on streets and damaged vehicles. Additionally, some areas of the tourist attraction Alhambra Palace were temporarily closed. The Alhambra Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is Granada's representative tourist attraction, visited by 2.7 million people last year. This earthquake occurred three days after a magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred in Granada in the early morning of the 15th. There were no injuries due to the earthquake at the time, but reports were received that parts of the building were destroyed. Additionally, some areas of the Alhambra Palace were temporarily closed. Granada authorities reported that administrative buildings, museums, and sports facilities were closed, with only major health facilities remaining open.
