The road to Jilong Port is open.

On September 2, at dawn, news came from the other side of the cordon set up by China Anneng. First there was a shout, and then there was a sound of footsteps. Soon, more and more people gathered outside the cordon. The rescuers, carrying equipment or shovels, looked anxiously toward the mountain pass.

The night before, I stayed in one of the fire rescue tents and just sat there.

It was such a long night. I walked towards the cordon several times, only to see a few security officers standing under the lights, their shadows long. The night in the plateau canyon was really cold, and the wind and rain poured in from the mouth of the valley. I wrapped my coat tightly.

Everyone is waiting for the news of getting through early the next morning. This kind of waiting is itself part of the rescue operation.

These days, the two words I hear most are “on call at any time” and “trying to find ways”. The former is about enforcing orders and prohibitions, while the latter is about taking responsibility. In the face of disaster, the simplest expressions contain the strongest responsibility.

The upcoming order is the biggest expectation of the rescuers.

Every minute outside the cordon is a confirmation of every meter ahead. During this wait, every minute seemed to last longer than 60 seconds. However, every meter that the road extends forward is one minute closer to the order being issued.

Give it your all and it will be worth the wait.
