Minister Park Hong-geun "Learning from the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's 'vicious cycle of austerity'... We will achieve growth-driven fiscal soundness."

Regarding the creation of the Honam semiconductor cluster that the government is promoting, Park Hong-geun, Minister of Planning and Budget, refuted on the 27th, "(Some people say) that it is twisting the arms of companies, but that is not true."

Minister Park said this in an interview with KBC Gwangju Broadcasting on this day, saying, “Everything has its time and it is the right thing to do.”

He continued, "This time, we are building the fourth (semiconductor) fab, and this is being done with a sense of speed, and if the semiconductor market is good, we are even planning additional expansion."

He emphasized, "We believe that we must achieve results here," and added, "We will also support the three major mega projects in the future and various infrastructure such as railways and highways in the Honam area."

Regarding the establishment of Honam Medical School, he said, “Establishing a local medical school is a very important issue in resolving the medical gap,” and added, “We are firm in our position that we will not spare any necessary support.”

Regarding next year's budget plan, which has a total expenditure of 820.9 trillion won, Minister Park said, "We will achieve growth-driven fiscal soundness by boldly investing in preparation for the future."

He criticized, "During the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, we learned about the so-called 'vicious cycle of austerity,'" and added, "At that time, we cut taxes mainly on corporate taxes, and even though the economy was not doing well, we did not make active investments and focused on passive management. So, of course, the economy slumped further and taxes did not come in."

He emphasized, "We must not go that way. If we grow the economy through active finance and thereby secure financial resources and strengthen the tax base, we can reinvest accordingly. Creating this virtuous cycle structure is the degree of financial management."

Regarding the recent decline in President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating for the government, he said, "Isn't this government born through the so-called 'revolution of light'? So, I think (the approval rating) will be restored by restoring more trust with civil society and progressive forces outside and working together with real solidarity and solidarity even if there are differences."

He said, “The President will be fully aware of the situation,” and “If the second term of the Lee Jae-myung administration is determined to get off to a flying start, the President will be able to gain (support) again because he spoke in a recent press conference and is sorting himself out.”

Regarding President Lee, he said, "He is a very capable person, a person whose head is filled with only thoughts about the country and the people, and whose whole body is filled with work." He added, "He sees the world completely differently from the person who lived in the past as a student movement, civil movement, or so-called political party member. He works really quickly."
