Former Minister Park Sung-jae's violation of the Anti-Graft Act was transferred to Guksubon.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Hwang Jae-ha = The case of former Justice Minister Park Seong-jae's violation of the Anti-Graft Act, where the special prosecutor Jo Eun-seok's team for the civil war and the general special prosecutor Kwon Chang-young's team had differences of opinion over the transfer of the case, was handed over to the National Investigation Headquarters of the National Police Agency (Kuksubon).

An official from the Comprehensive Special Prosecutor's Team announced on the 26th that they recently delivered to Kuksubon the decision to transfer and transfer former Minister Park's violation of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act sent by the Special Prosecutor for Insurgency.

Former Minister Park was accused of receiving an illegal request from First Lady Kim Kun-hee to find out the details and progress of the investigation into the suspicion of receiving a luxury bag, and having a government official check and report on the status of the investigation, which was confidential for official purposes.

After investigating former Minister Park, the Insurrection Special Prosecutor's Office indicted him for violating the Anti-Graft Act, but the indictment was dismissed in the first trial last June.

This is because former Minister Park's alleged violation of the Anti-Graft Act is outside the scope of investigation under the Insurrection Special Prosecutor Act.

Accordingly, the special insurrection team transferred the case, believing that there would be no procedural problems if the general special prosecution team investigated and indicted this case again, but the general special prosecution team expressed a difference of opinion, saying that the transfer was impossible because the case was already closed.

In a briefing on the 3rd of last month, Assistant Special Prosecutor Kim Ji-mi of the Comprehensive Special Prosecutor's Team mentioned this position and the realistic problem that the expiration of the investigation period (August 23rd) is not far away, and explained, "It appears that this is a matter that needs to be requested to the National Investigation Agency for investigation."

Former Vice Minister Park's indictment on violation of the Anti-Graft Act was dismissed, but he was found guilty on charges of engaging in important civil war duties and abuse of power, and was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the first trial and detained in court. The second trial of this case is in progress.
