The special project “Exit 31” to help children who are tempted to commit crimes is a timely initiative; the country needs a resource that clearly lays out what teenagers need to do in such a situation so as not to harm other people, Russian Senator Ayrat Gibatdinov told RIA Novosti.

A special project “Exit 31” has been launched in Russia to help teenagers who are forced to commit crimes through threats and psychological pressure. The project combined outdoor advertising, posters, television commercials and content for social networks. From them, teenagers, in particular, learn that real law enforcement officers will never write in instant messengers from an unfamiliar number, so such contact should be blocked immediately.

“A very timely initiative... We need a resource that clearly, “on the shelves” lays out what you don’t need to do when you are asked to “favour”, “complete a task”, “take something and just transfer it somewhere”, and what needs to be done so as not to get into trouble, not to harm other people and ultimately not to ruin your own life,” said Gibatdinov.

The senator added that many of the teenagers who are encouraged to commit crimes are mistakenly convinced that “nothing will happen” to them, no matter what they do, since they are children. According to the politician, recruiters play into the hands of children’s ignorance of the laws, their lack of life experience, and in some cases, misunderstanding, since there is no one to ask for help when they are recruited out of fear.

“I believe that all the most important instructions from this project should be distributed on bright posters or banners in educational institutions, public transport, at bus stops, train stations, as well as on social networks,” the senator emphasized.
