Two police officers from the Zhonger Road Police Station of the First Branch of the Keelung City Police Department were patrolling on a motorcycle at around 5 a.m. today (2nd) when they discovered that a 46-year-old knight named Lin was illegally turning right on a red light. They then sounded the siren to signal Lin to stop for inspection. Not only did he not stop, speed up and escape, but he also rammed his bicycle into the policewoman's motorcycle, causing scratches and contusions on the hands and feet of the two police officers who were chasing him. In the end, he was suppressed and arrested by the two police officers. Not only was the drug driver found, but two etomidate cigarette cartridges were also found. Officer Su Yuxiang and policewoman Lin Jinglian of the Zhonger Road Police Station of the Keelung City Police Branch No. 1 were patrolling Nanxing Street in Renai District on motorcycles at 5 o'clock this morning. They saw a motorcycle rider turning right on a red light in violation of regulations. They immediately sounded the siren to signal the other person to stop for inspection. The rider not only did not stop, but accelerated and escaped.
Two police officers rode behind and chased for more than 10 meters. The rider turned back after entering a dead end alley, and actually rammed into the motorcycle of policewoman Lin Jinglian, causing the policewoman to crash. The policewoman, despite multiple bruises on her hands and feet, worked together with Su to suppress the rider to the ground. The rider was later identified as a 46-year-old man surnamed Lin. An electronic cigarette host containing cartridges was seized from him, and a poisonous cartridge was found in the motorcycle glove box.
The police conducted a quick saliva drug screen on Mr. Lin, and the result was positive for drug abuse. After the police alert, Mr. Lin was transferred to the Keelung District Prosecutor's Office for investigation for crimes involving public danger, drug hazard prevention regulations, and obstruction of official duties. It was recommended that the prosecutor apply to the court for detention.
After the branch chief Wen Jixing learned that the two police officers were injured, he immediately expressed condolences to the injured officers and affirmed the hard work of his colleagues who were not afraid of danger and actively investigated crimes. Director Wen emphasized that in response to drug-related driving, the police are fully equipped with rapid saliva drug screening reagents, which can instantly identify drug-impaired drivers during traffic stops and inspections, thereby improving law enforcement effectiveness.
