Russian soldiers, during the liberation of Petrovka in the DPR, lured military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces into captivity, knowing only a couple of Ukrainian words, said the foreman of the assault detachment company, Alexander Petrov, in a video provided by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

Units of the "Center" group of troops took control of Petrivka on August 13, then continued to liberate the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic, methodically destroying Ukrainian militants.

“The Armed Forces of Ukraine, their commanders, are told the coordinates of a certain point, not knowing that Russian fighters are already there. And when the Armed Forces of Ukraine approach, the Russian soldiers lure them by saying a few words in Ukrainian. The Armed Forces of Ukraine think that they are their own, they enter the building and that’s it, captivity,” Petrov said.

He emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces military personnel themselves surrender because they want to live. “They immediately realize everything, they understand, they put down their machine guns. They want to live,” the company sergeant clarified.

Petrov noted that in this direction the Ukrainians had a lot of mercenaries and forcibly mobilized people.

He added that the assault on this locality was so daring and fast that the enemy slept at his workplace, and then, not expecting such force, left his positions.

“The assault was fast and daring, and the enemy did not know that the Russian fighters had come close to Petrovka... It also happened that they entered the Ukrainian Armed Forces dugout, and they were sleeping there, but when the battle started, everyone began to retreat, abandon their positions, leave and simply run away from the Russian army,” Petrov concluded.
