German Foreign Minister calls for dialogue with Russia at the request of countries in the Global South

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadefuhl said he met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov at the request of countries in the Global South amid attacks on ships in the Black Sea. His words are quoted by Reuters.

“A number of colleagues, especially from countries in the Global South, have asked me to talk to Russia,” the German foreign policy chief said.

He called for a ceasefire in the Black Sea, stressing that now is the time for dialogue. According to the minister, there are fundamental differences between Germany and Russia that need to be discussed.
