Former Serbian President Vucic called meetings with EU leaders painful due to questions about sanctions against the Russian Federation

Aleksandar Vucic, who resigned as Serbian President, admitted that recent meetings with European Union (EU) leaders have been painful. He stated this in his address to the nation, Serbia Danas reports.

“Every meeting in the last four years in Europe has been a torment; I haven’t felt good at any of them, because at every one the first question was: why didn’t I introduce sanctions against the Russian Federation,” he said.

Vučić noted that meetings with Russian representatives were also difficult due to American sanctions against the Oil Industry of Serbia (NIS). “And it was difficult with the Russians, because their goal is to keep NIS for themselves. And from others, take it away from them, and as a result, Serbia suffers,” added the ex-president.
