Attack on Pontedera jewelry store: gang uses stolen car and nails to escape

An authentic assault carried out by a specialized gang of professional thieves was carried out just before dawn in Pontedera (Pisa), where, around 3.30 am, four criminals broke through the bars with a large engined car before shattering the windows of the shop where jewelery and watches were displayed with axes and a manhole cover. The thieves emptied some fire extinguishers to obscure the view of the business's video surveillance cameras.

The extent of the thieves' loot is yet to be clarified

The bandits fled moments before the arrival of the police who chased them to the branch between Pisa and Livorno of the Fi-Pi-Li highway where they managed to lose track of powerful cars. To make the chase more difficult, the thieves scattered dozens of nails along the road. The police are investigating the case while the owners of the jewelery shop are still taking an inventory of the stolen goods to understand the exact amount of the loot. There was also extensive damage to the shop's structures. The car used by the gang is an Audi Q3 which was found stolen and already used for similar attacks in Tuscany.
