Man armed with knife hit by passer-by in Milan

A man who threatened passers-by in Milan armed with a knife was hit by another who tried to stop him. The episode occurred around 7pm on Saturday 26 September at the intersection between Piazza Cinque Giornate and Corso di Porta Vittoria, near the city center and involved a 41-year-old Latvian citizen (the man armed with the knife) and a 29-year-old Italian (the one who ran him over). Both were reported at large for aggravated threats and serious injuries respectively. The Latvian was in fact admitted to hospital with a prognosis of 40 days.

Police intervention

The police intervened following several reports of a man armed with a knife received at the police headquarters operations centre. Having arrived on site with the squad cars of the general prevention and public rescue office in via Fatebenefratelli, the officers found themselves faced with a young man who told them that he had been threatened by the 41-year-old. They then reconstructed what happened, identifying the investor and ending up reporting both.
