Amanda Knox returns to Perugia to honor Meredith Kercher and reflects on the 2007 murder

She took care of me because I was more naive and uninhibited": Amanda Knox retraced her story and that of the murder of the English student committed in Perugia in November 2007 in a long interview with Verissimo, on Canale 5. Revealing, among other things, that she returned to the location of the crime. "To say goodbye to that life that Meredith and I had together" she explained. "She was the person with the most common sense" she said. reiterated by her then roommate.

Knox recalled, among other things, that the only person convicted for the murder is Rudy Guede, who has finished serving the prison term inflicted on him. "It is a crime of a man - he underlined - who committed feminicide but it is a woman who remembers when we talk about the crime (referring to herself - ed.)".

"You were in Perugia, even recently, to see the house. Why are you going back?", asked Silvia Toffanin. "I came back to meet the public prosecutor Giuliano Mignini - Knox replied - and a bit as a mourning passage. Because I was torn from my life and I wanted to come back to honor the past and that life we lived."

Knox said he wanted to remember Meredith Kercher "for the simple, everyday things." But attached to the memory of her is that of all the suffering I felt afterwards. I'm trying to rediscover the memory of that 21 year old girl who was close to me when I was a little girl with the whole world and the future ahead of me. A girl I am no longer."

You spoke about Patrick Lumumba, whom you accused of the crime, to which he however proved unrelated and was therefore acquitted (he still spent 14 days in prison). For this Knox was finally convicted of slander. "I apologized to him but it's not enough for him - he added - because he believes that what happened is my fault".

Knox and her then boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were definitively acquitted of the murder charge for which they have always proclaimed themselves unrelated.
