LDPR deputy proposed shortening the working week for parents of minor children by two hours without reducing wages

Valery Seleznev, a State Duma deputy from the LDPR, proposed shortening the working week for parents of minor children by two hours without reducing wages.

Previously, the LDPR faction submitted to the State Duma a bill to reduce the working week for such parents to 39 hours while maintaining their salary.

It is also proposed to provide parents of two or more minor children with one additional paid day off every three months.

MOSCOW, September 11 - RIA Novosti. State Duma deputy Valery Seleznev (LDPR), in a conversation with RIA Novosti, proposed reducing the working week by two hours for parents raising minor children, without reducing wages.

As the parliamentarian said, currently the parent of a child under the age of 14 has the right to apply for part-time work, but a decrease in working hours also entails a decrease in wages. In his opinion, this measure is not suitable for individual families.

“Work, travel, school, kindergarten, clubs, homework - the usual weekday of parents is often scheduled until the evening. There is less and less time for the children themselves, so I propose to reduce the working week of parents of minor children by two hours without reducing wages,” Seleznev said.

The parliamentarian recalled that earlier the LDPR faction introduced a bill for consideration by the State Duma, which proposes to establish for parents raising minor children a reduced working time - no more than 39 hours a week, while maintaining wages in the amount paid for the normal working day. However, he believes that a more noticeable reduction in working hours should be legislated.

“Two hours a week seems like a small number until you look at the life of an ordinary family. This is an opportunity to pick up a child earlier, have time to see a doctor, go to training, calmly help with homework. We propose to give this time to parents without reducing their salary,” the deputy noted.

He also said that the previously introduced legislative document provides for another measure: parents of two or more minor children are offered one additional paid day off every three months. According to him, these days will not be used immediately, but accumulated.
